Al Murpy received his Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Music from North Central College in Naperville, IL.

He completed his degree with a double major in piano and organ and a minor in voice.

Al has studied organ and piano extensively after graduating from college, including master classes with Paul Manz, Marianne Webb and

other distinguished concert performers.

Al has taught, as the time allowed, most of his adult life. He has held various teaching positions with Byerly Music in Peoria, Samuel Music in Springfield, and Wisniewski Bros. Music in Salem, IL.

Al has held many church related positions, including; organist and associate director of music at the 1st United Methodist Church in Peoria; organist and youth choir director at the 1st United Methodist Church of East Peoria; and most recently he was the organist and choir director at Temple B'Rith Shalom in Springfield and organist for the Federated Church in Carlinville and pianist for the informal worship services at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield.

For Al, what's the most important part of teaching piano?...Making sure that my students are having fun while learning to enjoy making music.

Mr. Murphy is excited to be back in Peoria and teaching full time as well as working with Matt and Larry Waldhoff at the Piano Gallery of Peoria.

The Waldhoff''s are longtime friends and business associates of Mr. Murphy. At the Piano Gallery of Peoria Al will be offering group lessons for all ages, and he particularly enjoys working with beginning students for both private and group lessons. For more info 309-966-0434
